How to Pin a URL Shortcut on Windows 7 Taskbar

Posted on 04:09 by Unknown
Have you tried dragging a URL shortcut to the taskbar of Windows 7? If yes, what was the result? You sure were not successful and the URL shortcut got pinned to the default browser jump list instead. Do not give up on it yet, as there is a way to get the URL shortcut pinned on the taskbar, and all you have to do is follow some steps or call the computer repair Los Angeles service for helping you.

• Step 1: Right click on an empty desktop spot and select New and then Shortcut from the menu list. This begins the Create Shortcut wizard.
• Step 2: In the text field, type %windir%\explorer.exe followed by a space and then put the web address for which you want to have the shortcut. Then the user must click on Next for continuing.
• Step 3: Now type the shortcut name that you prefer to have. After you are done, click on Finish for creating the shortcut.
• Step 4: The next step will be to click on the new shortcut on your desktop and then select Properties from the menu that appears.
• Step 5: In the Properties window, the user must select the tab called Shortcut and then click the button labeled Change Icon.
• Step 6: In the Look for the icons in the file field, type %programfiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and then hit Enter. Next, the user should click on the internet shortcut icon, found in the 4th row 2nd column. Now click OK for saving the settings.
• Step 7: Click OK in the Properties window; this will set the icon for the new shortcut created.
• Step 8: Now right click on the new shortcut that is created and select the option Pin to Taskbar. Your mission is accomplished.

In case of any problems, contact a good computer repair service immediately.
