Steps to Changing the Function of Power Button in Windows 7

Posted on 04:39 by Unknown
For all Windows 7 operating system users, the power button is actually the Shut Down button in the Start menu. Once the user clicks on the Shut Down button, your computer system shuts down by default. This is actually the default function of the power button, but the user can make the power button restart, log off or sleep when necessary. Follow the steps to do it or contact an operating system support service.

• Step 1: Right click on the Start menu and then select “Properties” from the list of options

• Step 2: In the “TaskBar and Start Menu Properties” window that opens, the user must select the “Start menu” tab by clicking it.

• Step 3: Now you will get a drop down list that has a control which is labeled “Power button action”. Choose the action that you want your power button to perform whenever the user clicks on it. Finally click on “OK” for saving the settings.

Following the aforementioned steps should help to serve your purpose of changing the default function of your machine’s power button; however, if you find that you are getting stuck somewhere and cannot accomplish the task, you must immediately contact the computer repair Chicago service for assistance.
